DolphinGemma is an AI model trained on 40 years of dolphin sounds to understand and generate dolphin-like vocalizations. The AI model is small enough to run on a laptop or smartphone and aims to help scientists decode dolphin communication patterns.
It was created by Google in partnership with the Wild Dolphin Project and Georgia Institute of Technology.
Imagine in the year 2035 the technology could expand to give voice to elephants, gorillas, and other smart zoo animals, letting kids have actual conversations during field trips.
