Google Helps Us Talk to Dolphins

April 18, 2025

Could humans and animals communicate with each other using a translator between human and animal language?

DolphinGemma is an AI model trained on 40 years of dolphin sounds to understand and generate dolphin-like vocalizations. The AI model is small enough to run on a laptop or smartphone and aims to help scientists decode dolphin communication patterns.

It was created by Google in partnership with the Wild Dolphin Project and Georgia Institute of Technology.

Now let's think...

How might the world change if we could talk to animals?
