Do you think there might be alien life on another planet?
In 2025, astronomers using NASA’s new James Webb Space Telescope studied a planet called K2-18 b, about 124 light-years away. They detected gases in the planet’s atmosphere that on Earth are made by living organisms like algae.
This doesn’t confirm aliens exist, but it’s a possible biosignature (life sign) that has scientists excited. It’s the first time we’ve seen such strong hints of life outside our solar system, marking a big step in the search for life beyond Earth.
Imagine it’s the year 2041. We’ve discovered life is common throughout the galaxy, so schools will start teaching kids about how life might work on different types of planets.

In the year [[lib1]], scientists discovered life on a planet called [[lib2]].
The life forms there looked like [[lib3]] and survived by [[lib4]].
Instead of breathing air like humans, they used [[lib5]] to stay alive.
When humans first made contact, the aliens communicated by [[lib6]].
This discovery changed how people on Earth thought about [[lib7]].
Soon, kids everywhere were learning how to [[lib8]] to prepare for a universe full of life.
